What’s Your Name?

Week 2 in Deneba, Ethiopia- 10/4/14

Week two was a success. I observed other English teachers on Monday(Sept 29), was introduced to my class on Tuesday(Sept 30), and began teaching on Wednesday(Oct 1)! I have two sections with about 50 students in each. I am working hard to learn names but Ethiopian names are tough enough without trying to learn 100 at one time! I had my students make name tags and took their photos with their name. Hopefully, I can study them in my free time.

Classes have been a bit difficult so far. The students are in 9th grade and have a fairly high level English text book but their English level is not quite up to the level of the text. I am in for a challenge. Hopefully, I can improve their English skills even a little.

Photos for this post include some goodies from the market, photos of Deneba and my school, as well as a few on my trip into my hub town, Debre Berhan.

Until next time…peace!
