After a two day stay in Galway, Brita and I headed back East, toward Dublin. On our way to Dublin, we couldn’t resist a quick detour to stop in Clonmacnoise, to check out these impressive stone ruins. An ancient monastic site near Shannonbridge, Clonmacnoise, is another top visited attraction in Ireland.
Along with the impressive Clonmacnoise Cathedral, there are also seven churches and two round towers on the site. The site was founded in the mid-6th century by St. Ciaran as a great center for religion and education.
