Historic Omni Parker House

At the heart of Boston, along the Freedom Trail, sits The Omni Parker House. Established in 1855, the hotel has remained just as elegant and charming as ever. The original Boston Cream Pie and Parker House Rolls can be enjoyed at both the Parker’s Restaurant and The Last Hurrah, Boston’s Famed Whiskey Bar.

My brother, Trey, and I were out for a stroll around Boston back in the fall and found ourselves at The Parker House around lunch time. I reminded him that it was home to the Boston Cream Pie, so we began our meal knowing what was for dessert! The Last Hurrah’s relaxed atmosphere seemed perfect for our late afternoon meal, so we settled into the cozy bar. The leather couches, mahogany details, and historic charm prompted us to take time to enjoy every second of the experience. We sat at a small table by the massive picture windows lining each wall of the bar and watched as the city passed us by. It made for a wonderful afternoon in Boston. The hotel’s rich history, and luxurious features take you back in time to the days when the Saturday Club would make appearances for their regular meetings in the restaurant. The Saturday Club consisted of literary dignitaries such as Charles Dickens, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Oliver Wendell Holmes. Hopefully, the following photos will offer you a taste of the  experience only found at the The Omni Parker House until you are able to relish the historic hotel’s ambiance and delicious food for yourself.

In honor of Emeril, I ordered the dish that the Parker House has named after him, the Emeril Lagasse Dip. The sandwich consisted of roasted prime rib on a Portuguese sour dough roll with au jus. It was absolutely delicious!

The Boston Cream Pie was perfectly portioned, even for two! A wonderful balance of sweet chocolate, light cake, and creamy layers. However, it was so beautiful, I hesitated a bit before devouring the delectable dessert.

A short video featuring Emeril Lagasse at the Omni Parker House. He was a sous-chef at the hotel restaurant for two years during the early part of his career. Emeril reminisces about his wonderful time at the historic landmark.
