This week’s Tuesday morning outting was a little dampened by the weather, however we didn’t let the rain stop us from enjoying a great day. Our plans were to hike Green River Knob, the tallest point in the Knobs region of Kentucky, elevation 1,789 ft. It is also the highest spot in Casey County. Nevertheless, soon after arriving at our host’s charming cabin and getting our lunch safely stored for later, the rain began to fall. So, instead of hiking, we sat on the front porch and watched as the countryside received a shower. The group was able to visit and enjoy one another’s company while savoring a nice morning cup of joe and listening to the rain hit the tin roof.
Once the rain let up enough to allow us, we decided to venture out for a short walk around a nearby pond. The ground was extremely wet, so we mainly stayed on paths and gravel roads instead of opting to climb the Knob. After our short walk, we headed back to the cabin for a lovely pot-luck lunch of tortilla salad wraps with everything you could imagine to fill them, followed by a variety of delicious desserts. These ladies know how to eat! Although it wasn’t the morning we had planned, we didn’t let a little rain spoil our fun!
