Rousey Old Homeplace

The Casey County Explorers, June 25, 2013

This week’s outing took the Explorers to Butchertown, The Rousey’s Old Homeplace. The charming Rousey family farm consists of a lovely cabin and endless hiking trails to explore. The crew split off into three groups as the length of our excursion grew, allowing us to accommodate everyone’s ability level. We then enjoyed a quick hayride around the property to allow everyone to view the farm and share laughs. (Special thanks to Danny Jeffries for taking us on a wonderful hayride.)

The group then headed back to the cabin for an amazing potluck lunch of tortilla salad roll-ups. Our group sure knows how to work up an appetite! YUM!

As you can see from the photos, the deep forest of Kentucky is wild and green this time of year. I had the pleasure of finding many tiny specimens to photograph, as well as luscious woods and streaming creeks.
